General- Pomegranates botanic name is Punica Granatum. It comes from the Lythraceae family. Pomegranates can grow from a shrub or a tree at a height of 6-10 m high.This fruit is a berry with the size of from a lemon to a grapefruit , 5-12 cm in diameter. It is round in shape and thick. Its color is a deep red , like blood but with a hint of pink.The number of seeds range from 200-1400 seeds . The seeds in general represent about 52% of the weight of the fruit.

Even its juice was found to be at least 20 percent greater than any of the other beverages tested, beating out Concord grape juice, acai, and blueberry juice.
